Anita Vacation Tote Bag - Black, Red and Linen Version

Hello, Friends!
Are you going to be traveling this summer?
I took some business trips recently,
so I made myself a new tote bag.

Do you recognize the pattern?
It's my very own "Anita Vacation Tote Bag" design,
available as a PDF pattern here on Craftsy, or

For this latest version,
I wanted a mostly-neutral bag that would go with
a lot of my business wear.

The main exterior fabric is a floral print
from the original Mama Said Sew line
The contrasting fabric near the top of the bag

The interior of the bag is also made from
the Essex Linen.
I find it to be very durable, especially when interfaced with
Pellon 987F fusible fleece, as I do for all of my purses.

Inside my bag, along one edge,
I use a strip of pockets,
to keep my sunglasses and other key items handy.

How do you like that cute zippered inside pocket?
For the inside of the pocket, I used a coordinating Sweetwater print,
from Volume II.

What about that magnetic snap closure?
If you don't know how to add those,
my pattern will teach you...it's sew easy!

Even if you're not going on a vacation,
They make an excellent gift for a new grad!

Come back soon...we'll chat about this sweet pouch
that I also made, to coordinate with my new Anita Vacation Tote Bag.

New Pinnies For eamylove on Etsy

Hello, Friends!
As summer begins, I'm finding it difficult
to fit everything in...work, the end of school,
sewing, blogging, and social media.
Do you agree???

After all of the priorities are fulfilled,
I like to let the spirit move me...
it calms me to stitch up something sweet.
Lately I've been de-stressing by sewing up

I always use the fabulous tutorial from Kim at My Go-Go Life.

I've just listed four of my newest pinnies

For this set of pincushions,
I used several prints from "The Cottage Garden"
by Quilted Fish.
Here's a delightfully fresh pink and turquoise blend.

Check out this giant flower print
that was just the right size to create the backing.

I make my own covered buttons.
I wanted a geometric print, and I like
this one from Color Theory by V and Co for Moda.

I realized that these two fabric lines
play together very nicely!
I put together some gray and turquoise prints,
and here's the pretty result.

Again, that covered button just wins my heart!

I have made a few other items using turquoise and golden yellow,
so I chose to create another pinnie from that palette.

I had fun setting up some props to show off
my new favorite pincushion.

In a decidedly modern mood,
the last pinnie I made was lime and gray,
using only the Color Theory prints.

Stripes and geometrics make it fun.

The backing echoes the cathedral window design.

All of these pinnies are listed in my eamylove shop on Etsy.

Stop by often to see what else pops up for sale, over the summer!

Sweetwater Hometown Reversible Table Runner

I've got something fun to share with you today!
Remember those snowball-styled blocks
for a Jump Ring quilt that
I showed you in this post???

Well...I used eight of the finished blocks to make
this fresh new table runner!

{Fabrics are Hometown, from Sweetwater for Moda.}

I selected some texts, polka dots and stripes
in red and gray, alternating light and dark blocks.

For the finishing touch,
I used a diagonal plaid print
from Sweetwater's Feed Company line.

It's just so yummy, bundled up in this sweet roll.

Can you believe it?
This table runner is actually reversible!

I hand-stitched the binding neatly,
thank goodness!

The backing is also from Feed Company...
a recipe text print!
I think I'll try at least one of these recipes out someday.

I didn't quilt the runner heavily,
and personally I prefer it that way.
I did some straight line stitching
but left the centers of the rings unstitched.

The fabrics are so pleasant,
and I like the way they are featured
in these large blocks.

I love the way these "modern" fabrics look
with my vintage tins...
and I'm sure the table runner would really set off
a contemporary dining room, too.

I have some more blocks left over,
so I think I'll make at least one, maybe two more table runners.
This particular one is now up for sale

Double Exposure Zippered Pouch - A New Pattern!

Well, it's about time I introduced a new pattern!
Today I present the

In this pattern,
you'll learn how to apply "exposed" zippers,
which can then be trimmed with lace,
to resemble those gorgeous Japanese lace zippers.

{You know you've been wanting those lace zippers!}

This pouch is quick and easy to sew.
All you need are 2 or 3 fat quarters of fabric,
some Pellon 987F fusible fleece,
2 zippers
and 1 1/2 yds. lace or other trim.

For my sample,
I used Bonnie and Camille fabrics from the
Marmalade and Scrumptious lines.
The tangerine zippers came from Zipit on Etsy.

The pattern is full of photos to guide you, step by step.
Before long,
you have a stylish and useful double-pocket pouch.

You could keep some hexagons in one pocket...

and keep sewing supplies in the other pocket.

The pouch finishes at 9 1/2" x 12",
which makes it large enough to carry
some types of tablets, too!

You can fold the whole thing in half,
so it can go into a tote bag or purse.

Look what I did with the zipper pulls, for a final touch!

I cut some narrow ribbon (3/8" wide) on an angle,
then threaded it through the zipper pull.
I knotted it and trimmed it neatly.

{A touch of gingham makes everything sweeter!}

You can find my pattern for the

I'm having a GIVEAWAY to celebrate!
